I thought I would give you a quick update on how the little cat is doing......He has had 4 treatments of radiotherapy which finished last week, and apart from a bit of D+ (which isnt surprising since we were zapping a bit of his colon) and a bit of dry skin he is looking and acting really well

He had a rpt ultrasound last week and we re cultured his bile and that came back clean so he started on his first dose of chemo today. He has been an absolute star!!! He is going to have a rpt xray and ultrasound on his 3rd chemo in 6 weeks to check for mets again but so far sao good!!!!!

Re: haemangiosarcomas in cats

Glad thing look ok for Smudge

Re: haemangiosarcomas in cats

Thanks guys!

Re: haemangiosarcomas in cats

Glad to hear things are looking bright for smudge!

Re: haemangiosarcomas in cats

Well done Steph! You done a good job of persuading your parents in the end!

Quick update on Smudge!

he luckily hasn't got any obvious mets yet, (thoracic rads showed he did have asthma which we suspected) we took FNA's of the liver for cytology and took a sample from the gall bladder to send off to check for cholangiohepatitis

Spoke to the oncologists and they suggested either a 12 tx over 4 wks of radiotherapy, or 4 tx over 4 wks of radiotherapy and 6 tx of chemo every 3 wks. The latter one was more recommended as so little is known and it means we can get any of the little blighters that are floating round thinking of grabbing hold somewhere.

The BEST news is that mum and dad are 99% sure they are gonna go for the radio/chemo option we would re stage him after the radio and then at end of the chemo

I think they are pleased now that I pushed so much to get him over here as their vet told them nothing about the tumour and how fast it could grow back etc

Re: haemangiosarcomas in cats

Thanks guys
