I have to say it is mostly breeders telling new puppy owners that as well. One gentleman asked about the titre testing, and another said that he had been told that the vaccine can cause kidney damage in growing boxers which is why he doesn't want it, and this was fuelled by his "research" on doctor google.

When I worked in day practice we had a few breeders who were very against it and as a result pass this information on to people who buy from them.Unfortunately we had a case where a dog belonging to one of the breeders got lepto. It was such a horrible way to learn why we advised vaccination :(

Toward the end of my time in day practice, we were starting to get calls from people who were requesting the L2 rather than the L4 because they'd had heard of dogs reacting badly to the vaccine. Though when we looked into it the information was always "from my breeder" or "from the internet"

there seems to be several scare stories doing the rounds in my neck of the woods (Lincolnshire, lots of waterways and lots of rats!) and it seems to originating from a group of breeders. Check out your local dog walking groups on facebook and no doubt you will see quite a few horror stories. Have heard everything from puppies of 8 weeks needing titre testing rather than lepto vac, to L4 causing cancer/brain damage/blindness (delete as applicable). May even be the cause of Alabama Rot according to one person I spoke to. Its scary how some of this stuff grows legs and spreads

yes, had this at an agility match a few weeks ago, asking me about the vaccine and vaccines in general. Why do we vaccinate so much. I said its basically at your own risk if you don't vaccinate. I've seen the results of not vaccinating and its not pretty. Then she started to moan that she got charged for a consult... at this point i switched off.
