for a 1.2L mixture here we mix

900ml surgical spirit

200ml Hibitane

100ml H20

used to make it up in a 5litre bottle:

75% spirit - 3750mls

20% hibitane - 1000mls

5% water - 250mls

we used to mix water and hibitane together before adding the spirit. Otherwise we found it went cloudy.

Clip area as required. Vacuum up any hair. banadge any feet if carrying out limb surgery. 50/50 water and hibiscrub. Using lint free swans. Vigorous back and forward motion over surgical site. Followed by outwards wipes to edges.

Have used spirit, hibitane, water mix before, which I actually prefer to chloroprep. Spray surgical site with mix. Using lint free swabs outwards wipes, then repeat spray.

Clip as normal, gloves on, 30s relatively vigorous back-and-forth scrub along the incision line then the entire surgical area in sections, then normal circular pattern until appropriate contact time for the product, the surgical spirit over. We use hibi scrub diluted very slightly to make it workable, though anything up to a 50% dilution is fine.

Obviously best practice is to then have a sterile scrub, but we don't have the ability to do this at present. And just bear in mind all your normal stuff like using lint-free swabs etc.
