I am thinking about doing the certificate in Anaesthesia with ESPVS and was wondering if anyone has any feedback in relation to this or anyejere else that offers the course? How intensive is it? What is the cost? average duration etc etc? Both are very good courses but a lot more time commitment is needed for the DipAVN. I would say you need to devote ten hours per week at least to DipAVN assignments and reading the weekly online lessons. NCert I didn’t spend a lot of time on it outside of the 8 module study days as the case studies and case report are not as detailed as what is required for the DipAVN.

RE: Certificate in Anaesthesia

I'm going between the Ncert in Anaesthesia or the DipAVN and choosing the medical/surgical and anaesthesia but can't decide at the moment!

RE: Certificate in Anaesthesia

Hi Emma - I have just done it.

Excluding VAT its £2k. It runs for about a year and a half, 8 days in Swindon for lectures (2 days at a time every few months), you then write 5 case studies (500 words) and one case report (2000 words) and then sit an exam. They say you need to do about 10 hours a month of your study which I would say is accurate.

It is taught at a great level for nurses. It is not too "intense" in that sense but you will need to go home an do some reading. I think any nurse that has the NCert would be an asset to the clinic.

Hope that helps other ask away.
