I have recently started my dog on a course of Cartophen for arthritis and, typically for a nurses dog, she has reacted to it. It states that as a 'rare' side effect they can be off and quite for a couple of days post injection, which she has

RE: Cartrophen Reaction

[quote user="Calli D"]

it made her miserable and affected her motions for 48hrs after the 1st and 2nd injections but the day after the 3rd she had D+ which was making her nauseous and inappetant.

The vet I work with had a similar experience with his labrador

RE: Cartrophen Reaction

hey, glad to hear she is on the mend ☺

as regards the cartophen causing her GIT problems, the research I've just done would suggest it IS a side effect. IMO it is absolutely the right thing to report as an Adverse Effect.

I am glad to report though that although still squishy, her appetite has improved and she is much brighter. She even made it through the night last night ... phew! I don't think the carpets will recover but hey, they needed replacing anyway.

RE: Cartrophen Reaction

Speak to the prescribing vet regarding the need to report this as an adverse reaction.

I'm not especially convinced it's caused by the Cartropen, is the dog on any other medication?
