I am an student equine nurse, due to take my OSCEs tomorrow (ahhh so nervous.) I don't know about a book or anything like that but when in practice and now for our OSCES we would always stand on the same side that is to be injected, have your body just past the shoulder area and have one arm around the chest and the other under the tail. You would tell your handler to be careful as the foal may bolt forwards or jump backwards and watch their feet.

Hope this helps
