I was hoping someone could help me on an alternative to the ketamine/dom/torb anaesthetic in rabbits please?
we are a very small practice, and on average we only have 1 rabbit a month. so we are discarding a whole bottle

RE: alternatives to ketamine in Rabbit anaesthesia.

Hi there,

I would probably have a good read around, and see how your vets feel about it.

In the 'Textbook of Rabbit Medicine' (2014) By M. Varga, Ketamine/medetomidine/butorphanol is the suggested combo for induction! It mentions lots of other different combinations that may be appropriate, including alfaxalone (can be used with buprenorphine premed and of course isoflo maintenance!). Maybe see if you can source it and have a little look.

Don't have much experience with it though, but I hope this info helps.
