We have a similar attitude to pet food - we don't stock it unless its a specific order for a medical case. We can't compete with those that stack the waiting room with it or PAH just down the road - so we don't. If its pet food somebody wants we direct them to the pet shop or the supermarket

RE: Which supplier/wholesaler do you use?
Henry Schein (used to be Dunlops) currently but I do shop around as they seem to be incredibly pricey on some items - I am thinking in particular of eyedrops I priced for a client - both the same human generic as that is the only way its available. The HS price into us (without any markup) was 4-5 times the price the client got it from Boots with a script written by us. This could quite easily have been the difference for this client treating this animal and not. Delivery is usually good. Have used Centaur at a previous practice and never had many problems. NVS ditto - but never really liked NVS

I also use IMS and Vet Direct again delivery is good. Instruments Eickemeyer, Vetisco and rarely Vet Instrumentation. Blue roll I use a local bod who supplies garages etc as he has the best price. Used Broschmed for consumables at a previous practice as they were just down the road from us and they were pretty competitive pricewise and decent quality
I've seen that before too Sal. At my last practice, we compiled a list of meds/items that were insanely marked up and pulled the rep in about it. A week or so of back and forth and the mutterings of leaving them and those prices were amended...

RE: Which supplier do you use?

Henry Schein (used to be Dunlops) currently but I do shop around as they seem to be incredibly pricey on some items - I am thinking in particular of eyedrops I priced for a client - both the same human generic as that is the only way its available.
I'm familiar with NVS and Centaur. We swapped to Centaur 2 years ago, we had a few teething problems at first which resulted in me saying 'that wouldn't have happened with NVS' but on the whole they're fine.

We order some things from Vet Direct and get a good service from them, Burtons is good for equipment and again good and fast service. We have used IMS for consumables but I'm not keen. (These are only my opinions though).
