Recently we have had an issue on a few occassions where the bag on the machine has overfilled, ( we have noticed before it has been too late ) I'm not sure who in the practice is turning the valves closed but obviously this could become a problem

RE: Pre anaesthetic protocols

Hi. In my opinion, if you are doing an anaesthetic, all the pre ga checks should be done by you. I would expect that from a human anaesthetist if they were anaesthetising me! I think is level of professionalism should be encouraged in any one trusted to do a GA!

A checklist is a great way to encourage and ensure this happens. Great to hear several of you are using the AVA checklist as that is exactly what it was designed for by experts in the field.

It is free to,download from the Ava website, and there also ga sheets for free.

If your ga sheet is 1 sided you could consider printing a checklist on the back?

RE: Pre anaesthetic protocols

as most have said it's the anaesthesia nurse's responsibility to check they are happy to use the anaesthetic equipment.

RE: Pre anaesthetic protocols

Hi,
