legally on can only use one box for one customer, all prescriptions for this item have been proposed on a named patient basis. so if you used it on another patient, because its a veterinary special you could be in a trouble with RCVS

we don'[t freeze it, we charge the clients for a full vial and dispose of it after 24 hours. Technically it needs to be ordered in for a specific patient anyway.

We did used to freeze synacthen and drew it up into a syringe and kept it for up to a month

Does anyone know how you go about freezing the tetracosactide and how long it lasts?

I wouldn't worry that the IDEXX dose is too high as its meant to be maximally stimulating the receptors - we use a whole vial for a big dog, half for a small dog, because we don't do a lot of the tests and we weren't sure certain efficacy of a half finished vials if kept/frozen (I have heard of people doing this though for reasons of economy, I think it used to be super expensive in the States and lots of people experimented with freezing it there). so far, no adverse reactions on that dose and results are ok.

Cushings can be awkward to diagnose though, as has been said above they don't all respond to the ACTH stim test, so maybe your cluster is just a coincidence.

we give 5mcg/kg as well and not had any problems (we were actually using this dose of synacthen towards the end of having it in stock.)

You may find that those 3 may have been 3 that required LDDST for diagnosis anyway

We've been getting on well with it. The dose we are using is 0.5ml per 10kg... I'm not near the bottle to work out the full calculation and check our supply is the same concentration as yours.
