I went into work today after being sick all night was fine first thing, then had to go get cooked chicken for the beasts who wouldnt eat and the smell of that promptly brought me out in hot sweats and nausea again, one of the vets turned round to me and said "what are you doing here, don't take this the wrong way you look like sh*t and I dont want you here"

LOL so off I came home again after almost 1/2 my day at work done, and then I have slept most of the afternoon was feeling slightly better till I have just smelt the people downstairs cooking goodness knows what!

Yep you're right, went to the doctors this morning after my night shift and tada, I have a viral infection! Which means I can't go to work, because I work with vunerable people, so off now for 2shifts...then have my days off, so will prob be ok by next week. *crosses fingers*

I totally agree with you....I've come in feeling pretty rough just because I really feel bad letting the other nurses down, but always end up feeling worse and as you say it takes twice as long and then sometimes you come into help out and you don't get any thanks for it or you get the 'eww don't give it to me', but if I didn't go in i know the nurses would all struggle,

Yes I know it would be better for the rest of them if I don't go in with contagious things, but normally its just a cold, better then the vet who came in with a nasty nasty stomach bug, v+ed in the sink in dispensary took a pic of it and promotely was sick again, and gave it to half the staff....bloody vets

Well I went in and was ok, but slept for nearly 11hrs today, not normally that long. Feel worse, but am going in again. For the same reasons, not letting the team down. There's a nurse trained in general on tonight, so might ask her advice.

Depends really. I don't think anyone should be a martyr about it, but then there are some that will be off at the drop of a hat. Potentially infectious problems like v+/d+ should mean the person stays at home in case the rest of the staff are infected though!

I will normally go in, the only time I wont is when I have a migraine as I am not really safe to drive!!!

Unless I am physically unable to leave the bathroom lol!! I always go into work - ill or not. And for the same reasons as above - not to let my colleagues down. I guess its not really a reason as I know we are better to stay at home when ill so we dont pass it on.

At the end of the day, what thanks do we get for coming in ill? None!!
