I'm not sure about any papers being written about gabapention being used for OA in cats but I took advice from our senior anaesthetists who run our pain clinics as my girl is a nightmare to tablet and she is on ciclosporin for skin issues as well, she takes the gaba really well crushed on her food.

I have seen good results used in conjunction with other treatment but maybe I am biased I trained in human acupuncture

Would be interested to hear about anyone's success with acupuncture for oa. My dog has it and I would / am considering it. He has cartrophen 6mthly and hills JD and yumove tabs. Would like to use all options before starting down the pain meds for life route.

No, not tried gabapentin for OA in cats, have there been any papers written on it? Thanks for your help

I have never seen that reaction before with cartrophen why is it always our own pets, poor girl !? I have never seem a massive improvement with cartophen injection on cats generally not as much as dogs.

My old boy is in a similar situation with IBD he's on pred daily but arthritic as well so no NSAID's, but the vet has prescribed temgesic sublingual which seems to help, initially started with the injectable sublingually but moved onto the sublingual tablets which is more cost effective twice a day no hassle. The vet has also discussed use of low dose fentanyl patches.

I would love to know if you have success with the acupuncture.

have seen it used in feline cystitis cases and we did have 1 cat (a siamese) that we had to stop the cartrophen because it made him vomit.

Hi nope never seen it (but never used it in cats myself) have you tried gabapentin? My old girl has it for her OA and it works wonders
