She presented before christmas with a lesion on her foot, was sent home with anti-biotics I think and returned with vomiting. This progressed to the symptoms mentioned above and blood work showed renal changes. She continued to deteriorate despite our best supportive care. The owners opted for PTS about 5 days after admission.

She had been out of our area for a couple of weeks over autumn and had returned home with the lesion.

RE: Alabama rot

Referred to RVC for possible plasma transfusion and dialysis. 20% survival rate in 1st opinion and maybe upto 40% in referral. She was originally seen last week for a sore on her hind foot. This week very aggressive skin lesion, icteric, diarrhoea inappitant, elevated renal parameters. Also had some lesions on her tongue.

Vets4Pets have done a big awareness campaign on it:

http://www.vets4pets.com/stop-alabama-rot/

56 cases reported up to between Nov 2012 and May 2015

Anderson Moores are the experts in this one, maybe worth calling them?

http://www.andersonmoores.com/home/
