Has anyone else noticed this?
I think at first we stopped using the smaller vials because it seemed to be only those ones that were causing reactions but

RE: Augmentin reactions

Hi,

We have seen similar reactions as reported here but more so with the generic co-amxyclav formulations apposed to the auguentin brand

It seems to have started following the last OOS situation...we have had probs in the past with other generic co-amoxy-clav IV preps so stopped using them full stop.

Since the last OOS situation with Augmentin we have started dispensing chlorphenamine to the patient for the first dose but only using if required. Generalised oedema has been the main sign, we have got 1 springer though who had a couple of days of IV augmentin with us and THEN had a reaction, switched him to oral synulox but still had facial swelling, stopped all amoxy and the swelling went down.....it's now written all over his paper file AND computer records not to give beta-lactams to him now :)

RE: Augmentin reactions

Yes it's been well known around the south that there is an increase in augmentin reactions Report to the VMD. Presumably a allergic reaction, given antihistamine and returned to normal in a few hours.
