I know there are many for different types of injuries but the main ones you use would be helpful. So for instance, a clean wound, dirty wound,

RE: Primary layer bandage

Hehehe, am still smilin'!!!

This was actually very helpful and will provide a good guide for me to put together a bandage chart myself.
------------------------------------

I've found this website extremely useful to keep my wound knowledge refreshed. It also has a dressings library link that mentions all the 'trade names' of the various dressings and what type of wound they're for. Hope this helps you.

http://www.rch.org.au/rchcpg/hospital_clinical_guideline_index/Wound_care/

As to my own 'what do I do' / 'favourites' with regard to wounds management... Well, that's a bit more difficult to answer without going into massive depth. In a (large) nutshell, my favourite dressing depends on wound type, circumstances of the (how is it healing, well? Poorly? Do I need to change tactics?). I've found that what may work for one patient may not for another. Each wound is individual to that patient. I've had cases where the wound has broken down time and time again not because of lack of selecting the 'right' dressing but because of lack of owner compliance or patient intolerance of re-dressing. Sometimes a compromise has to be made to achieve the best possible outcome; I might ideally want to select e.g. an expensive alginate dressing but the surgery doesn't stock them and the owner wouldn't pay for it even if it was available; so I have to make a choice out of what IS available/affordable and work with it from there.

Sorry not to be as defined in my answer as I think you were asking for! However, I do hope you find the website useful (I do). As I said, there's a Dressings Library link within the website that I find very handy to jog my old grey cells into selecting a suitable dressing.

There is always Intelligent Wound Care, Georgie Hollis. I've heard her speak at various CPD events I've been to. Wow! (and I don't mean White Open Weave bandage..hahaha!!). IMHO well worth doing CPD with Georgie in attendance. If you can get your boss to stump up for some paid CPD for you and then review your own practice's 'library' of wound dressings and wound management that'd be great!! (I ain't on any commission, lol).

Well, me and my exclamation marks (!) are going to beddy-byes now. Yawn. This Old Birdie needs her kip. ZZzzzz.

Let me know if I can be of any further help, chick.
