My dog Taco has a dietary intolerance which has cleared up on Royal Canin Hypoallergenic diet. We're now at the stage where we're happy with his progress and weight gain and want to start finding out what he's actually intolerant of and hopefully

RE: Food elimination diet

One of the vets I work with was telling me about a poster like that but she couldn't remember who it was from. I checked the website and couldn't find anything, if you could email me that would be great. I'll PM you my email address.

Also I did find a nice list of what they test for for food allergy so that also helps.

RE: Food elimination diet

It wont let me attach them on here if you would like them i can email you them

RE: Food elimination diet

You could do a food allergy blood test, which although may be expensive, it will be a one off, it will give you a list of the food products that they have an intolerance too. Avactas blood tests is great and hey give you a lovely hand out and there is a chart that they have that shows you what foods have what in them. i will scan it on and attach it onto here

RE: Food elimination diet

My one cat is near enough intolerant of life his list after food panel bloods was more than 10 food sources he's on James well beloved as they are pretty much everything free and has done really well on it

RE: Food elimination diet

Yeah, we're going to go proteins first then carbohydrates and then I'm hoping to get a diet that's fairly small in everything else. I know JWB and Burns are usually quite good in limiting what they put in their diets.

RE: Food elimination diet

Hi

I am reading quite an interesting book on feeding lent by a friend who is doing the same thing currently with her own dog, cant remember the name but written by a doctor Becker. Might be useful to you with feeding amounts and adding carbs, veg and meat options.

When choosing a new diet, also consider the additives and bulking agents as well, as these are often involved in the problem.
Probably not a lot of help, but worth a mention x
