i.e. do you charge per bottle/tub, or once and the client may reuse it however many times? What wording do you use, etc.
Thanks guys

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

yep i agree on this one especially dependant on condition, my concerns are when the patient has been settled for x months/years and still has prescriptions issued monthly. with out no check ups being booked. etc

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

[quote user="PSA-David"]Legally a client is allowed to request a prescription for enough products for up to 6 months of administration.
Yes our only exception to this is if the vet feels that the medication may not be required for the full 6months or that the doseage or size of tablet will no longer be applicable for 6 months.

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

But there are some vets that will only issue prescriptions on a monthly basis. Thus keep charging every month to issue a new one.

Will not issue more than one product on a prescription. Etc metacam for 6 months dose on one, advocate on another. Thus accumulating issue charges, this not allowed either under the Office of Fair Trading.

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

£7.66 for the script however many items so long as they are getting them all from one pharmacy and not needing multiple scripts for different places, for up to 6months (dependant on animals condition - ie if we need frequent checks less likely to get script for full 6months but that is to encourage clients to keep checkups and not repeat drugs or doseages that may no longer be useful to that animal - so in effect it saves them money not buying drugs they may not need) recheck in 3 -6 months or sooner at vets discretion. We have the cheapest scripts around for miles but people still grumble - even when you point out that ours are cheaper than NHS. Must admit it is rare we get asked for a script

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

as above, but £15 with a vet check every 3-6 months, clients still think we are money grabbing.

RE: Written prescriptions for online POMs

Dont have it in front of me but basically policy is £12 per drug. Number of repeats at discretion of vet dependant on when check ups due but generally for 3-6 months treatment if checked recently and stable. We do, on rare occasions on bosses ok, charge just one script fee for multiple drugs in cases whose owners are very strapped for cash. Other neighbouring practices will only issue one month scripts and charge per month.
