I think it will depend on what stock the practice has. We can't start any new patients on the smaller sizes but we have enough of the bigger ones for 1 or 2 more patients. We have to make sure we have enough each month for those currently on it.

Thanks for clearing that up Sal, thought I was going to have to give my vet the bad news and watch her crumble!

we are prescribing to patients that were on the medication from the start - not really starting any new ones on it at the moment . The reason being if we start them on it they need a higher initial dose which will use up stocks faster but then we may not have enough to keep them on a maintenance dose so then they will be back to square one. Even when we had allocation the amount allocated was for patients already on the medication

We have been swapping sizes all the way through the supply problems to make the best use of what we have - we have explained this to our clients and they have been very understanding, - it helped us a lot to conserve stock

Sorry to confuse you Looby - as I understand it if you had a monthly allocation you are still getting it - we cancelled our monthly allocation as we ended up with so much of it that there were thousands of pounds worth of it sitting in the dispensary we didnt need to be adding to it month on month and besides that we knew other practices were really struggling to get hold of the stuff. We thought it fairer to everybody if somebody else got a chance - we have now used much of what we had.

We have been getting our monthly allocation since we signed up in May- is it now on back order?

We were updated by our rep last month and told that the reason it went out of stock originally was that there was no licence for it in Europe and it was just getting shipped out of the country. We were told that there were no problems with production currently but that it was still being restricted to monthly allocations to stop the same happening again.

still a back order item - we had stock as we were one of the first practices to use it but ours is dwindling fast - no 16s left, 5.4 limited and 3.6 about the same. There seems to be an awful lot of items on B/O at the moment .

we have sufficient for current users and so far none of those have had to go without (tablet size may have changed tho for some of them) - we have just been very careful with it. We have been told next summer too for normal supplies to be resumed

We have a very limited supply for current users only (not actually enough for everyone). Last I heard from our rep they don't expect supply to be back to normal until next summer at the earliest! I'd love to here if someone knows any different though! I can't get through a week without someone asking lol and we have had to hide the small amount we have away so we can keep track of it and share it out equally amongst everyone Who wants it!

We got one lot of stock from France, but have been told that thats all gone now too. We are down to our last 5 x 16mg tablets, haven't had any stock since middle on July. We are just waiting to see if anything ever turns up!

Hi Lisa,

We had Ray come in to see us and now get out allocation from France. You need to speak to your rep and send a SIC and they can get it sent to you but its only 16mg tabs at the moment but they can help you work out the mgs for your patients on smaller doses! Nightmare I know we put lots of patients on it. The drug is derived from plants that they now need to grow to make more!

how many were on preds or piriton or atarax or similar before apoquel came along? Everybody is in the same boat and zoetis are doing their best. We are getting a monthly supply in line with the number of patients using the drug which we share as best we can. Nobody is getting more than a monthly supply but you still get clients that demand more, a lot depends on how you share out the stock you have
