I generally check them hourly as I do all the meds. We have a board each new day/night which lists all the times and meds are placed on them. When we do our hourly checks, we wont necessarily TPR unless requested by a vet. Its nice to let them sleep when its finally a bit quieter. Our more critical patients are placed in prep room so they can be constantly monitored and I feel this works really well. We dont have a set system like the traffic light one but you will know on a nightly basis who to prioritise. You will know as well as any nurse, plans never get stuck to if only the job was that black and white :P

Re: Overnight care

Each of our patients is checked every 2 hours just for general demeanour (BAR, QAR, etc). The clinician in charge of the case decides if TPR etc is needed overnight and if so, how frequently.
