I'm looking to get myself a decent stethoscope but not a litmann as I can't afford to spend that much. Can anyone recommend one please?

Re: Best stethoscope that's not a litmann

Littman do a good range across the ££. This one is an entry level one

http://www.3mdirect.co.uk/3m-littmann-lightweight-ii-se-stethoscope-black.html?gclid=CITr4I6z7b4CFWj3wgod3T0AHA and a good price.

We have range of different makes in the clinic I'm at and I must admit Littman seem to have more clarity. Some places laser print them too. I'm very attached to mine and get most upset when I think I've lost it, sad I know :-/

Re: Best stethoscope that's not a litmann

Hi

I've never bought myself an expensive stethoscope as I've had 3 in the past 18months as other people use it and drop it and then it breaks :( I will look at your range though

Thanks

Re: Best stethoscope that's not a litmann

At J.A.K we do some good economy stethoscopes, we also do HEINE & Littmann Stethoscopes.
Only issue I had was the bell is heavy round the neck :)

this one has been good enough for me - I feel certain others will say it is rubbish but it does what I need it to do http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007WUNUOE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3KCX896S9UC3E&coliid=I1655DGIU8ZCQ1

- its available from a few places - this was just the first one I happened to find.

There should be a few of these in various places as I have lost 5 or 6 of them over the years

another I have had in the past was this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001CCINO0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3KCX896S9UC3E&coliid=I1MO1GHZGF3HZ0

which must have been passable as it seemed to disappear with a locum vet

must admit the value type I think provides the best sound is a sprague - I know they are old fashioned, but then so am I
