Ive not tried apoquel yet but when doing other tablets such as fruse 20mgs and istin i always use a size 10 blade rather than a pill cutter as they seem to just crumble some tablets. Its seems to help having tablets on a piece of paper versus a plastic surface as less likely to fly across the room. Problem being noone wants to waste apoquel if they dont cut properly !!

We had our june allocation come today but none of the middle size ones.

In the letter sent out by Zoetis to practices they do mention the possibility of continuing treatment to those that really do need it. "Ensuring that patients in the most need of Apoquel continue to receive the product, and those who must transition off do so with minimal complication." not sure if this helps any one with patients that they have struggled with? Would like to also know what they mean by "in the most need" or how a animal qualifies as I presume its going to be case by case not just us saying they really need it?

Also saying they are hoping to resume shipments in July, fingers crossed!!!!

Started an older dog on it 2 months ago - had been a breakthrough drug for her especially, as she had demodicosis so no steroid therapy allowed. She'll be first in line for the rest of my 3.6mgs, but it's sad to think her condtion will probably deteriorate when the tabs are finished

but looking further there are also quite a few that are out of stock as well - so it looks like we are all in the same boat now

Sounds about right!! They should recall their stocks for the monthly allocations!!

just had a quick scout around the internet pharmacies - looks like most of them still have it in stock, so thats where all the stock went then. Wonder if they have a monthly allocation too

Such a shame - dogs that had been on steroids for years finally got off them only to have to go back on them. We were hoping we could keep them on it - cant understand why they thought they could allocate so many per practice but now dont have enough. Surely they knew what stocks they had before they did the allocations?

We're in the same boat! Had an allocation and haven't received anything since ordering! Rang them and got the same answers. Back on medrone/atopica :(

Spoke to the company today we have been told they now cannot supply any more for the foreseeable future and are going to be sending out letters to practices advising to take patients off the drug, as it takes 9 months to make this product demands have been so high they now no longer feel they can continue supplies!! We had a monthly drop but now say we won't be getting it ! N great huh

yep the middle size we cannot get even our allocated amount and looks like the smallest size will be the next to run out very soon. Just a thought but if all the people who have it on backorder dont manage their backorder (ie if they say have 12 boxes on back order because people have just retried ordering when its not available rather than the amount they really need) as soon as it comes back in stock the supply will be compromised again - just like happened with acp injection and lepto vaccines a couple of years back because people were stockpiling ridiculous amounts. Hopefully because of the cost on this one people will be more sensible this time around

They made enough for 4yrs and it was all sold in the first year. Takes a long time to make and don't know when they will be getting it in. Most if ours on middle size which even with allocation you can't get yet so if your practice has been allocated some you can get the 3. Something and the 16 something's.

We have contacted our rep as we have a few animals who are already on it. They have said due to popular demand they have completely sold out and are struggling to build up stock. This is apparently going to take a year to do!!! So its is only going out in limited supply through the company reps, we are getting just enough to keep the animals we have on it. So our vets can't give it out for any new cases now which is a huge shame!

yes we heard from the rep and had a letter from Zoetis about 3 weeks ago. Stocks are for existing patients. We have to order ours direct through Zoetis. Good luck anybody trying to get 5.4 tho as we have been unable to.

Must say we have seen some really good results on the ones that are on it

I have heard that Apoquel won't be available for new customers wanting to use this product, potentially for this whole year. I believe there is a restricted allocation for patients already on this medication.

Contact your rep. We are getting limited supplies but have to be authd by rep as in short supply.

I'm not sure,

all i could find was this:

Since its initial release, the drug is now on back order and won’t be available again until April. We’ve got our order in for more of the drug once it’s off back order. It should be delivered to veterinarians before the worst allergy season, which doesn’t usually hit until later in the spring.
