Hi.

I used to study at harper adams university and they have a 400 cow diary herd, and as a student you can gain experience by simply signing up on a sheet on one of the lectures door. I'm sure you would be able to get a weeks work experience on the dairy unit there, particularly if its during the summer holiday as they'll be grateful of a hand. Other wise i know a farmer who lives shrewsbury way that i used to do work experience with, PM me if you would like to know any more.

Perhaps ring a local large animal vet and ask the receptionist - they will have a good idea which farms are likely to be friendly, accommodating, and a good place to learn!

When I was gaining experience for vet medicine course I phoned farmers up who had dairy cows and asked if they would like free help for 2 weeks most will jump at the chance.
