Just measure from the mouth to the chest/heart etc, then gently feed the oesophageal stethoscope down the oesophagus. Placement after the animal has been&lt;br /&gt;intubated avoids the possibility of the stethoscope accidentally entering the trachea.&lt;br /&gt;&#x1; Allows auscultation of heart and lung sounds even if the patient is covered by surgical drapes.&lt;/p&gt;
