Can you use nitrous oxide? I know it's only effective under ga. but FHNE is pretty brutal surgery. Maybe consider local anaesethsia? What doses of methadone are you using. Might be due to the fact that it contains a preservative. We used to use vials pre-bottled version. Really liked the use of it. Much better than morphine as you don't get the usual nausea associated with the use of morphine. Reduced ACP doses.

Re: Methadone constant rate infusions

Thanks, that would be great. However on recent cpd webinar (it's a free one online and I can find the link if you need it) it does suggest that as a cri you should stick to morphine, and use methadone as pre-Meds. We are currently looking into the research behind this to adapt our protocol as needed.

Re: Methadone constant rate infusions

We only use it on its own and not as an infusion.

Re: Methadone constant rate infusions

we don't use it as a cri on its own as far as I am aware sorry
