I did the idexx 2 day course at Wetherby years ago and it was good - dont know if they still run ? I have also found a couple of US courses on line which I have found pretty useful (designed for trainee vets and although you dont get anything to show for having finished them you do get the knowledge) I also used to ask around at congress for any tech info on new lab machines/tests so that I could find out how each one worked ( very useful if you are a locum and dont know what you might be working with from one week to another).

this little blue book used to be my bible - yes its old but it gives very clear instructions on different tests ( when you dont have the luxury of too much lab equipment) but more importantly why you might be wanting to do them.

I hope you find what you are looking for course wise - this used to be one of my favourite areas of the hospital where I used to work, makes me feel a bit sad that I dont do it anymore

PALS (Pinmore Animal Laboratory Services) are an excellent lab which are always really helpful and go the extra mile when we contact them and have come out to various events to do CPD, might be worth seeing if you could shadow them as work experience?

I called idexx for the same reason and the guy was pretty good - he came out and set me up with an account for their learning centre online, but I agree, the website is difficult, I had the issue of getting the training to load, but if you call them they sort you out quickly:) Also, not sure if you'll be interested but Dechra currently have a Skin and Ear Cytology CPD on their Acadamy, with some good tips for techniques, and its free!

Might be worth contacting Finn Pathologists in Diss, Norfolk as they do training courses.
