If so is it to diagnose suspected cases or as a precaution pre op? These are all good thoughts and we want to see that detail through other projects. For now, we want to keep the web submission easy-to-do. We find that if we ask people to give symptoms, even with a simple tick list, they don't participate.

Thanks

When you find positives, I'd be very grateful if you registered them at
http://angiodetect.co.uk/

just a thought but would it be useful to register negative tests as well in dogs that are showing symptoms of cough, under the weather, neurological signs, prolonged/excessive bleeding etc. That way once the register has been running for a while it might be possible to give an expected percentage of positive cases among symptomatic dogs within a larger area and make it easier to see and locate smaller hotspots where there is a higher than average number of positive cases.

We have just bought the kits in but living in a very large county (Lincolnshire) I would be interested in finding out if one end of the county is worse than another( I suspect it could be ).

Re: Idexx Angio Detect test

They come in a pack a pack of 20. The shelf-life is over one year and you are very unlikely to have a problem using them up before then-we've had plenty of practices reordering already and the test has only be available for a matter of weeks.

The tests are £7.00 each. The price charged to the pet owner varies, but I have seen practices offer it at about £25 to £30 for a stand-alone screen (that includes a blood sampling fee) and £15 to £20 as an add on to other blood tests. Obviously, the practice will have a lot of other variables to consider when setting the price and it's at your discretion.

Re: Idexx Angio Detect test

What pack sizes do these tests come in - always a consideration for smaller practices, and any idea what sort or price either to buy or what people are selling them out for?

Re: Idexx Angio Detect test

Angio DetectTM can be used in both scenarios:

It's really quick and easy-to-do. The anonymised data is being passed to researchers to help them better understand the spread of the parasite. There is the chance to win Amazon vouchers too. You can go there now to see where the positives have been reported so far.

Re: Idexx Angio Detect test

I've done 2 of these in the last week, both negative.
