I'm a qualified nurse.
I do a lot of nurse consultations so think this would be useful for me do enable to do more in the consults but i have been looking around

Re: Sqp or not??? I did mine about a year and a half ago and we have developed the practice rota to fit so that only SQP's are in dispensary (most of the time) I think it's useful to have on clinics just as you feel more confident. It's really useful for any dispensary work as it makes you very aware of the legislation.

The CPD unfortunately is really repetitive as its still fairly new and so varied as to who can do it e.g the CPD for us RVN's can feel like trying to teach you how to suck eggs.

If nothing else it's another string to your bow. The exam is gruelling because you have multiple choice, then an essay question then oral examination but all sound a lot harder than they actually are. There's not an awful lot to learn especially for a nurse.

Hope this helps.

Re: Sqp or not???
I understand your dilemma. I have also had it! My main fear with it is that there aren't a huge amount of SA drugs which can be prescribed by SQPs, and as I work in a SA only practice, I wasn't sure about doing the course.

I do know that when I looked at the CPD requirements a few months ago, your CPD for SQP will count towards your RDVS quota, but not vice-versa, so hopefully not too bad to keep track of.
