My Vets have advised me against surgery as a poor prognosis. He has lost weight but eating and drinking, and surprisingly happy.
He is currently on metacam BID and Betamax LA

Re: Retrobulbar abscess in a Rabbit...

Thanks Mark for your reply. Believe it or not...he his still happy with a non functional eye that is still leaking pus from inside. He is eating & drinking and to me has a fair quality of life. It's nearly 5 weeks now since it appeared! At any instance he stops eating and drinking and hopping around the garden happily it will be euthanasia.

Re: Retrobulbar abscess in a Rabbit...

Hello,

Eye enucleation is required in most cases. We give a fair prognosis to these cases. Usually the eye is non functional anyway and removing it allows debridement of the abscess.
