We are currently looking into oxygen generators for our practice, i just wondered what peoples experience of them was. Any comments good or bad would be very much appreciated. If anyone has any suppliers they have thought were great or terrible

Re: OXYGEN GENERATORS

What flow rate are you looking for , you can get mobile 5 litre low pressure or high pressure 8litre or up to 20 litre fixed unit. What circuit are you using?

Re: OXYGEN GENERATORS

We have them too, they do make a noise but it a bit like active scavenging you miss it when you have to run on cylinder, eg when the electrics trip!

Ours are piped in and run two anaesthetic machines each and also run oxygen cage. Can get 10l/min no problems. They have warning alarms on them if the power fails and we have a cylinder tucked behind each one and just swap the oxygen plug over - they attach in like pipeline oxygen wall plugs. Really good for the oxygen cage no worries about running out.

Most important thing is that it takes a minute or so for them to get going when you turn them on.

Re: OXYGEN GENERATORS

We have two and they are fine. The only down side to consider is if you have a power cut mid op.
they are a bit noisy we named ours Darth Vader... As it does sound like him lol.
We have had a O2 cylinder fixed to the side that we can switch to if needed. Got our from vet direct.

Re: OXYGEN GENERATORS

We have them in at my work and I love them. They're not great for moving from room to room but we still have a normal machine for prepping and put them onto the O2 gen in the theatre. They're fab for mouth breathing cats 'cos you don't have to keep constantly checking the O2 levels on the machine.

Re flow rates, we have an Eickemeyer one and it goes up to 10l/min

Re: OXYGEN GENERATORS

From what I understand, flow rates are retricted and you can't produce a very high flow, but I've never used one!
