Anyone know of a supplier (UK) that can provide me with those little plastic magnifying attachments for insulin syringes? Apparently Caninsulin have stopped making them (I discovered we

Re: Insulin Syringe - Magnifier attachment

Totes amazeballs!

Re: Insulin Syringe - Magnifier attachment

That's so cooooool Dave! Cheers.

Caninsulin used to provide basic little strips of plastic that clipped over/around the syringe which provided a 'magnifying glass' effect to increase the size of the calibrations. See below for an picture example of something similar (it looks more robust than those Caninsulin provided but either way, they both would do the job...)

And amazon.co.uk don't know when their version will be re-listed!

I can see loads of clients drawing up incorrect amounts without them. Pester mode on!

It just doesnt seems a bit wrong that people who need them and are already paying out quite a bit on a regular basis might have to spend more money on something that was previously free and increases the safety of the product they need to use.

Re: Insulin Syringe - Magnifier attachment

That's great Jane, ta! Will consider buying for my 'emergency use only, here's one I prepared earlier' box o' tricks hidden under the counter....

For future needs though, it is expensive at £5+ quid plus postage for one unit compared to the 'free' ones that were provided with the Caninsulin syringes, but it is probably more substantial. Unfortunately it's as I have previously researched, these handy little gadgets are only available in the US unless, as here, you buy a 'one-off' through ebay. So no good for maintaining regular supplies, pooh.

And, yes, I agree with you that they are essential for lots of folk. Me included, lol. (Sad, but true, I have reached the age where reading glasses have become an evil necessary, in dingy lighting, for analysing fine print). Hmmmm, there's a thought, mebbe I will buy this one for myself...ha hah ha!

On a more sober note, having access to little devices like this can make the difference between a pet continuing to receive treatment or having to face the possibility of euthanasia if the owner cannot cope with the administration of its meds. I know about the insulin pens now being heralded and lauded but for many that is still not an answer... Perhaps I need to speak to my vets about investing more in this 'technology' instead from now on for owners with this difficulty? What does everyone else think about it? I am interested in your views. Thanks.
