Currently our practice gives core vaccines at 8 and 10 weeks for dogs and 9 and 12 weeks for cats. Dogs get DHPPiL every 3 years

Re: Does your practice give 3rd vaccinations?

We do a ot of 3rd vaccinations, I hate parvo. It stinks.

Re: Does your practice give 3rd vaccinations?

we have chihuahua owners arguing that their dog only needs a half dose of vaccine due to its size and breeders advising new owners that a dog only needs the initial course to last it a whole lifetime so I doubt there would be a good uptake of a 3rd vaccine among these people - we did have a few converts among them after a parvo outbreak last year . Where I am now we always try to ensure that the 2nd vac is given at 12 wks and not earlier, I am interested in how the WSAVA recommendations fit in with the manufacturers recommendations though

Re: Does your practice give 3rd vaccinations?

Hi, yes we offer 3rd parvo vaccs. We are in a ba parvo area and have seen 2 cases of parvo in dogs vaccinated at neighbourng practice with a 10 week finish. We therefore strongly recommend it on all 10 week finishes but recommend them to all pups - we send out reminder cards and do get a pretty good uptake - prob about 75%.

Re: Does your practice give 3rd vaccinations?

We started offering the 16wk parvo vacc to our clients about a year ago as the amount of parvo in our area was getting scary, it's up to the client if they take us up on the offer of third vac for £10 most of them do.
