There was a problem with supplies before due to the company who produce the syringes took a massive order for some other product and apparently the epiphen was being put on hold as they were unable to get the syringes! But that was the excuse at the end of last year but I'm not sure if it is now for a different reason?

Hi, we use Dunlops wholesaler and can't get it either, they have no date when it will be available either.

Well today I had my second try with Sevo!!!! and to top it all a Lhasa Apso bitch spay..... now we all know how the wee dogs dont like to stay under anyway, and huff, puff. Hr out the box, or just DONT BREATH!!!!!! so , my BP was pretty high too.Thankfully my second op was a Rottie Bitch spay........ no probs whatsoever, everything stayed within normal limits, and no panick attacks from me.

At the moment, we have a border collie on both - he is the only one and has a blood check every 3 months. So far, it has been aceptable

Pot bromide is used in conjunction with phenobarbital (epiphen) to help keep the amounts of phenobarb lower, doesnt always work but thats what its used for. if you have an animal on both you need to check the serum levels of both not just the phenobarb as well.

Last week - cat spay (I mean how routine can you get!!) the usual dom/torb/ketamine combination, intubated, put on o2 - bloody cat done its best to die!!! Vet panicked like there was no tomorrow - antisedan straighaway with a view to getting it back to the kennel BREATHING and without surgery. However, anitsedan seemed to do the trick nicely, surgery was done with cat well maintained and no probs on o2 and Iso.

It was real scary though!!

'blood pressure took a while to settle' - yours or the dogs? - I hate it when anaesthetics go sour, can leave you feeling really shaky afterwards

Don't we all. Today I re-learned the absolute terror of an anaesthetic emergency. (Dog castrate, it tried to die , survived....phew!) Blood pressure took a while to settle!
