I second the loo roll tubes, I keep the cardboard middles from the paper towels at work and poke holes along the sides with a pencil and stuff the middle with hay so the bunnies have to pull the hay out of the litle holes. Then if they get peed/pood on they are easy/cheap to replace.

Re: Think Rabbit!

Toilet role tubes with hay in stuffed in the middle maybe even a few small pieces of veg or pellets. Hang a piece of fruit or veg from a height on a piece on sting so he needs to stretch and balance on his hind legs to get the food. Food balls are great but cost a little bit of money. Bricks, logs and tunnels add new levels to the environment. Hope these help and you have one happy bunny X

Re: Think Rabbit!

Depending on the size of the rabbit, you could try the inner tube from a carpet roll. Carpet shops are normally happy giving them away. I got one for my 2 rabbits before but didn't take into account that fact my female was a Rex so she couldn't fit in it so my dad got me a drainpipe from the site he was working on instead - worked a treat.

Re: Think Rabbit!

I used to give my bunnies turnips whole or halved strung from the roof it makes it more of a challenge to eat them, can be done with all veg. Bendy tubes too (scavenge from building sites as above). Egg boxes, with smallish holes poked in them with some of their pellets inside, they through them around to tip out their food, can always proves entertainng!

My rabbit is back with me after being on his holidays for a number of months whilst my attention has been with my new baby son!

His cage and outdoor run are boring with nothing to keep him entertained, other than a fresh selection of veg, dandilions and a sprinkle of pellets every day scattered for him to forage..and not forgetting his forage hay!

Has anyone any ideas on what I can do to enrich his environment without costing too much money?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

hi

here are a few things that i have done for my rabbit: opening a cardboard box up at both ends to form a tunnel (my rabbit loves this) , placing a large brick in the run for him to sit on, placing an old piece of carpet in the cage or run, a large apple box that you can from the supermarket for him to jump in, sit in move etc.

hope this helps a bit :)
