Hi, Wilko!

I'm certainly open to taking courses on the road; we don't currently have plans to do this with Surgical Nursing, mainly because of the practical surgery bits. It's not out of the question, just not something I had on the "to do" list. Lectures? Sure; and happy to oblige. It's just that practical courses and wetlabs are harder to take on the road.

As for trains from South Wales, most of your trains get into Paddington; while trains to Huntingdon or Potters Bar leave from King's Cross. Driving really may be your best bet on this one. Looking at the train websites, you're looking at a fair few hours for either one. Huntingdon's closer to the train station than Potters Bar is, so that's probably your best bet if you're set on a train.

Hi Mark Would you think about running these courses in the south Wales area? We have nothing like this in our area and I would really like to do this course.. Just a thought for the future if you knew any lecturers a bit closer to home for us nurses down my way I am sure we be very greatful Thank you Failing that which one has a train station close to you? Perhaps I could think about taking the train rather than driving Many thanks

Hi, Vicky! Sorry for the delay. SVN's are fine to sign up, but it is a course aimed at qualified VNs, so she may find it slightly higher level than she's ready for. If she's willing to have a go we're happy to have her on the course.

Really depends on if she feels ready for it - it's not a diploma course, but there's enough on there that I don't want her to feel buried.

Shouldn't be a problem, Vicky, but let me know which location she wants to attend. I can ask the course tutor if there are any barriers to having student nurses on the course.

Hi Vicky! Sorry for the delay in responding - I was assembling flatpack furniture over the weekend. (My daughter has a bedroom now, and daddy gets to do the heavy lifting bit, of course!)

Anyway, the course isn't just talking - you will perform minor surgeries and have a suture workshop on the day. It's admittedly not going to get you a Diploma (being only a day course!) but we do our best to make sure you're not just sitting there in a chair. There are theory bits, yes, but not a majority of the course.

I did look at the site thank you very much. I am wanting to know how much of the day is practical, there is a lot to fit in to 5 hours so wanted to know how much time the practical covers.

"The first part of this course will discuss the actual Schedule III of the VSA 1966 (as amended in 1991). You will learn the legal aspects on who is permitted to perform minor surgeries and what those surgeries are.

Following that, this heavily practical course will cover a number of procedures that can be carried out by the registered or listed veterinary nurse. This course is an excellent foundation for nurses who want to expand their surgical techniques, making them an invaluable part of any veterinary surgical team."

Hi, i'm looking for schedule 3 CPD. I want a lot of practical in the course I do, how much of this does CAW cover? I want more doing than talking!
