I am just about half way through the Compass Adv Dip beh. I have done a ton of CPD and reading and have worken on my own nut job pets and friends and familys pets with issues big and small

Re: lack of feedback/owner compliance

Hi, boss charges £40+vat per 30 min consult and £15 per half hour telephone consult. They get a full written report and any relevant info hand outs- recommended reading etc on the prob if necessary. I telephone 7-10 days after and have written to people, but nothing! The boss isn't happy for me to send to many chasing letters due to the cost of headed paper.....

Other times the owners say they will book another appt but are too busy/ broke at the moment.

Others are very good and are very pleased with the outcome. Guess I've just got a run of 'magic pill' owners- who think just by havin a consult things will get better with out them doing anything...

Re: lack of feedback/owner compliance

Do you charge for the consults? I think sometimes owners dont make the effort because the consults are free. Maybe if they had to pay (even just a very small amount such as £5) it might make them take it a bit more seriously.

So they have to book a course of appointments as part of the service. Weekly phone calls during the time between consults to check everything is ok and see if any advice/help is needed. Send little encouragmenet notes between appts to as iv found with my weight clinics that owners really appreciate being told they are doing a great job!

I know its soooo tough, trying to be persistant without seeming like you're pestering them!

Maybe see if you can watch some consults of other qualified behaviourists and see what they do?

Good luck hun, im sure you're doing a fab job. All you can do is your best. You cant help people who dont want to help themselves (or their pets lol)
