Bit of a random post. My cat has been diagnosed with eosinophilic granuloma complex - it appeared as a mass on his tongue and an ulcer on his lip over the past few months. He had the mass removed and has now started on Atopica. He has been on it

Re: Eosinophilic Granuloma anybody?

Hey! My cat started when he was 6m old with ulcers on his lip. Been to Willows recently (they removed the lump - my vets were too scared to do it!) and they reckon it is due to an allergy, possibly fleas ??!! He is a picky eater anyway which doesnt help and prefers biscuits, which is amazing considering how bad his mouth gets! At the moment (touching lots of wood) he is doing really well, just costing Pet Plan a fortune! My cat doesnt seem to do as well on prednisolone, hence starting him on Atopica, just so glad found something that works. Hope your two carry on doing well :)

Re: Eosinophilic Granuloma anybody?

hey, both my 9 year olds have had eosinophilic complex for years!

my boy started when he was about a year old (turned out to be allergy related) but still classed as eosinophilic complex, he's had various treatments including immunotherapy which all worked a bit but I found prednisolone worked really well for his odd flare ups. He has since been diagnosed with Mast cell cancer and is on pred for that which is keeping everything at bay.

My girl started about 6 years ago, always localised to her head...itchy nodules that she would scratch bloody. she has had a collar on ever since and we have tried all sorts wit her including cyclosporin (atopica but she had the liquid form neoral) unfortunately it didn't agree with her and she was anorexic and developed hepatic lipidosis and ended up with a feeding tube in, however that is a rareish side effect so i'd just say keep an eye on his eating.meg is now on oral dexamethasone every 3rd day and seems to be doing ok at the moment
