Hi we have used Aludex quite a lot in the past ( oh how i can smell it now!!) with very good results.

We have also used Advocate as well. To be honest our vets didn't like it and didn't think it worked as well.

We seemed to have resonable results with pro - meris duo spot on. Nothing will beat Aludex though.

I read this an decided to try and order some in to see what we got. We have a Bull Terrier comes in for weekly baths as Advocate done nothing for him, skin's cleared right up since starting the Aludex baths.

Anyway, we got the full 2 boxes that I ordered in today from NVS.

Hi Saysay!

We have recently gone back to using Aludex for Demodex too. Our skin specialist vet has started using it for severe cases cos Advocate etc is just not touching it.

Dunno where you can source any tho (unhelpful)

Just as a warning about Amitraz, one of our vets wee terrier cross had a ProMeris spot on applied & had a severe reaction to it. It caused severe bradycardia to the point she was convinced he was dead!! Very scary - so be aware!!

ProMeris Duo Spot on solution is what we have been offered as a sub, dont know how good it is though....

we found that the weekly advocate didnt clear it up as well as expected. so we have used panomec injections in the past and hae worked well.

Great news, was told today that advocate can be used once a week for up to 4 months as a tx for demodex :-) obv not in ivomectin sens collies, . They adv using it weekly until you get 2 negative scrapings.

Novartis rep has told me all about this before think its something like a tablet a day for a month...... Novartis will tell you nvs have aludex i got a bottle last week

Will look into Milbemax - thank you! Unfortunately the Advocate alone hasn't had the desired effect so we're trying good old fashioned Aludex, have had some brilliant results with it! Although you're right - it's not the nicest of stuff! We always wear PPE though and do it in a well ventilated area

I would have thought Advocate was enough.....Aludex is a bit out dated isnt it? we have had successful treatment with spot on demodex in lots of cases. Its not good for you girlies to be giving aludex baths!!
