&lt;p&gt;acid fast bacteria are identified using Ziel-Neelsen&amp;#39;s staining method, and are named this because the &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;acid applied after the red stain cannot penetrate the cell wall of the bacteria and be removed.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;mycobacterium is an example.&lt;/p&gt;
