We're using both Domitor and Vetergesic with half dose propofol or Vetergesic and Calmivet. Apparently you can inport acp from France but need some sort of licence but I dont know much about this.

I was also under the impression that it was only a temporary problem whilst alternative manufacturing options were sourced. In vie of this thread I will definately try and find out more. We are still working through our stock pile that we mnaged to get hold of before it went under!!!

yea, its been discontinued permanantly, wont be available again, we use calmivet, i know its supposed to be the same as acp but have definately noticed a better recovery, much calmer, cant see why, we use calmivet and dolorex.

I think I remember being told it was due back in Julyish time - is this now not the case?

thats a bit odd since calmivet is ACP only a different strength, they both are acepromazine

I was told it was permanently discontinued but may be wrong.

We've been using Calmivet for the past couple of months now and apart from getting used to the different dose rate, can't say I've noticed any difference whatsoever. Just means you need to use tiny weeny syringes for cats!

Has it definately been discontinued? I thought it was a temporary manufacturing problem, maybe lasting for about 6 mths or so till they find somewhere else to manufacture it...?

We are using calmivet, it is so much better than acp!!! The only downside is that it maybe takes slightly longer for the animal to recover (this was noted by a collegue, can't say i have noticed). You use a much much smaller dose but yet it is so much more effective..... recommend it all day long! The dose is kg x 0.006 i think although don't quote me on that.
