It is not so great for adult dogs and cats that are very excitable and can make them hyperexcitable and skittish. 

Also good in combo with ketamine for heavy I&amp;#39;m sedation or IV /I&amp;#39;m for
Induction of anaesthesia

Also how about low dose medetomidine for healthy dogs and cats premeds?- v low doses work very well (2-5MICROgrams/kg (so well below standard data sheet sedative doses) in combo with opioid/ partial opioid.  Don&amp;#39;t use in animals with cardiovascular disease.
