Some commonly kept species (such as garter snakes and boids) are actually ovoviviparous so don't produce shelled eggs....

Re: Snake with lumps

Would snakes have lumps if she (assuming it's a girl!) was egg bound??

Re: Snake with lumps

Thanks for the advice, I think this will be our next step, however the lumps are starting to disappear, it is very odd!

Re: Snake with lumps

[quote user="Gillian Mostyn"]

Yes, absolutely. Because they do have fat. Lipomas, as with any tumour, can develop almost anywhere.

I took the query from the OP of assuming them to be 'fatty lumps' as meaning that they may be normal and nothing to worry about. That was why I commented that this would not be the case in a snake, where it could be in a dog.

As has been said, no one can diagnose this over the internet. It is pointless to guess. A lumpy snake needs to see a vet.

Re: Snake with lumps

you say he have you had it sexed? could it be a female with eggs? would love to see a pic ( i used to work as a zoo keeper working with exotics)

Re: Snake with lumps

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=JMTUKwzPEvwC&pg=PA155&lpg=PA155&dq=snake+lipoma&source=bl&ots=R-iodvCkQN&sig=0HRbDo6mwbK2ZlHpdOg--AuFzHk&hl=en&ei=KNetTdjiFtSwhAeykqibDA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDgQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=snake%20lipoma&f=false
