Hi,

Just saw your message and wondered if you'd tried putting the felimazole tablet in a small piece of Vivitreat.I know they are normally used for dogs,but I've got a hyperthyroid cat who's really difficult to tablet and he loves Vivitreats.He thinks he's getting just a treat twice a day-he's a bit dopey!!

Anyway,we've tried it with other cats and a friend's cat and they love them too.It's worth a try.

Saying that, we have a client that Crushes Vidalta's and his cat is responding very well! He is an old man and the cat is a crazy feral, so he had no alternative as felimazole's did'nt have the required effect. I'm not advocating Crushing Vidalta's but for this lucky client, it has worked...

DEFINATELY NOT good on the H&S front for the owner to crush felimazole tablets or equivalent...........

I was going to suggest either refer for GA or refer for radioactive iodine,

The iodine should be fine as far as the hearts concerned as the patient isn't anaesthetised for anything. the only other products you will have to import

Radioactive iodine therapy? Not sure if this will be contraindicated with a heart condition.

have you thought about speaking to manufacturers of felimazole or vidalt about viability of crushing tablet with a little water so can syringe it in?

If you're able to get a license for it, tapizole is used in liquid form in the states. I've used it myself and is much easier than pilling cats.
