My friend's grandma had a little dog until she died, when the dog went to live with my friend and her family. After the death of his owner poor Bobby was very depressed, he didn't show any form of enthusiasm until he was walked near his old owner's house, when he thought he was going home and got really excited and pulled like a steam train to get to the house. It took him a few months to overcome it

Hiya

Certainly wouldnt like to rule it out and i think some people who are not 'animal' people (if that makes sense!)underestimate the bond between owners and their pets and dont understand how important a pet is to the owner and vice versa.In some situations a pet really is the only friend that some owners have i suppose.

The above link that Gillian posted is quite heartwarming in a way......devastating to the family and to read (have tears bubbling away every time i read it - was quite big news up this way)but also to know they are both together again is a nice thought and also nice to read the family are getting comfort from that thought to.

My friends husband died in the garden during the bad weather near Xmas last year. My friends dogs were a wreck to the point one of the dogs wouldn't leave the the area, just kept circling.

Got her on DAP and Zylkene and they are getting there slowly

Hi, my parents dog was a miserable wreck after mum passed away. She spent all day with mum when she was ill, she used to alert my dad if mum needed anything etc. After she passed away, she refused to get out of her basket and wouldn't play with my dogs or interact with people.

Its a very stressful time when someone is very ill or dies suddenly. Routines are changed and the dogs may get less attention than normal. They all deal with stress differently. Some become withdrawn, some become short tempered.

I put dads dog on DAP and Zylkene and a gradual return to normal life. I t took a few months but she became her old self a gain.
