Collection of samples, testing of samples, sending them off, where? Results and treatment and numbers in the last year of cases and what breeds are you noticing most with it?

Quite satisfying when you find them

Re: Tri trichomonas foetus

I saw a lot of this when I worked in Edinburgh and it was mainly pedigee cats such as British Shorthairs or Persians.

We used to do a rectal swab, place on slide with normal saline and look through microscope straight away - if you wait even 5 minutes they disappear. They should appear like little wiggly rods.

Now SAC in Edinburgh do a PCR on 3 day pooled faecal samples, its much easier to diagnosis.

Before this we used to send them off and it would always come back negative, but that was because the little blighters don't stand up to travel!!!

Re: Tri trichomonas foetus

hi

Cant say wehave had +ve results unless they have passed me by lol. Iwork at a referral place so cant say if normal practices are testing for it on a regular basis or not
