just looking for some views on this. I was taught at college (by a lecturer with a pharmacology specialism) that diazepam should not be drawn up in advance and left sat in plastic syringes before use as the diazepam is absirbed into the plastic

Re: Diazepam and plastic syringes??
I also don't draw up diazepam in advance and always discard anything colleagues draw up in advance as now 'dud'. I also remember reading this in one of the text books.
Ditto. I also discard pre drawn up drugs, unless they are labelled, or unless a colleague has specifically told me what they are, and shown me the actual syringe, where they have put it etc

"Diazepam, when drawn up into a syringe, will attach to the plastic within about 15 minutes"

I've heard both of these - if given with a plastic syringe, draw up immediatley before use, and do not give via an IV drip line

I've got no back up other than what I have been told - Would be interesed Selena in a link to the study you have quoted
