I have my third attempt at my practical exam in a few weeks (missed by a few marks :( ) so am just having a panic on the little bits that I missed during my exams. And have a few questions to ask,

How would check the anaesthetic cicuit for

Re: Check circuits for leaks - Practical Exam!

Yes, close to check but remember to OPEN to allow the patient to breathe!!!!!!!!!! Lots of people get flustered about that, remember the vavle will be opwn at the start !

I passed my anaesthetic task 100% though & I tested the circuit in the way people have said above :).

Re: Check circuits for leaks - Practical Exam!

Yep agree with everyone on that, but just make sure you remember to open the valve again after chceking the leaks so that the circuit is ready to use

Re: Check circuits for leaks - Practical Exam!

Thanks,

Really need to pass it this time. Can not afford to re-sit a forth time - emotionally or financally. I talked through it last time just forgot stupid little things.

Hopefully I'll get there this time.

I connected the circuit. Closed the velves and used my finger to block the end. I then flushed the o2 and said that I was checking for leaks and was ensuring the the bag filled and didnt deflate. If it wasnt filling or deflated then there was a leak. It really helped me to tell them everything.....Im not sure bout how you work. Just point out the obvious to them and when I was practicing I would check for leaks on all the GA tasks even if it didnt ask me to on some of the tasks as I knew I wouldnt remember which task I needed to do it on or not.

I hope this helps obviously its up to you if you would do it on all the tasks it also depends on time.

Good luck
