UPDATE!! currently the previous interview i had at minister vets in york was cancelled as the trainee didnt want to leave =( but i now have another interview to look forward to at another vets in york =D so all excited about that! and i have an interview for more work experience on fridays tomorrow so il let you all know how that goes, if i am unsuccessful in the trainee nurse interview i will be looking for 3 days aweek for work exp and currently im at one so if the interview tomorrow goes well il be at two =) so getting there!! but i do love the job so il keep trying =D

ahh good to hear it got there safely as i just found out today that my previous interview for a VCA job in march has been cancelled because the trainee doesnt want to leave anymore, but i have a work exp interview on weds so might be up to 2 days a week of work exp =) which i would be great until i get a VCA/trainee position, i hope to hear from you soon!! =D

lol yeh i know, my oh parents have a staffy which has had only one vacc (no second puppy one) and none since because "the first one will do", hes now 4/5 years old, slightly irritates me, i had to get a vet to help me find dog food articles to support dog food coz they were feeding him steak bought from a market = | and then they wondered why he had the s**ts, hes there precious puppy until he needs to go to the vet then the staffy becomes there sons dog (who gave them the dog before he moved to america with his wife THREE YEARS AGO) just rediculous......

wow small world!! well i am glad you liked it =) was slightly worried that i might be considered childish for the approach, but all is well so far =) i am glad that you will keep the details as i was always suspicious that some practices may throw them away =( i have few interviews in york in the next few weeks for VCA positions and work experience so if i do send another CV your way it will be because it has been updated in some way =) i will put this on a note when i send it and obviously another reply wont be necessary, as i dont want to irritate practices =S but i will definately be interested with it being so close =) so please do keep me on file

hi sarah I'm head nurse at vets 4 pets in barnsley and I did receive your letter but haven't replied yet as I've been off work (just back today).

It certainly got my attention with the pink paper but think that nice idea, your CV is very good and I will certainly keep you on file as we may possibly be looking for trainee/aca in the summer (depends how business goes).

You will indeed still be considered, accomodation may be available, where not definate on it yet, but there is a chance there will be, and it is local, so definately still apply! Im sure a bright pink covering letter will amuse my boss! il keep my eyes open for it, and it will definatley stand out amongst the others, good idea! lol!

fantastic look out for the pink covering letter! as thats mine =) just wanted an opinion as i match all the criteria in the ad and also have a C in alevel biology, but obviously im based in barnsley so relocating will be most likely will i still be considered? as i dont want to be excluded due to requiring accommodation = ( and if its a problem im willing to look at cheap student accommodation if necessary as i do have a car, although being above or close to the practice is preferred

okies all sounds good, im looking for a job in animal care at the moment just until i can get into a veterinary practice , ive had very good feedback from quite a few practices about my CV and offering work experience, so im positive at the moment.

i do have grade B in both maths and english so all good on that front =)

ive applied for a pet carer job at a mypetstop near manchester so il see what happens there, its just over an hours drive away but sounds like a great job to start with so i dont mind the travelling, but we'll see =)

in regards to a job in a veterinary practice im just going to keep the addresses ive recieved replies from and good feedback and just send them a CV every month or two to show them im still interested and see how it goes but if im successful in the pet carer job i dont mind waiting a while =)

Hello, I think i would taylor your letter a bit to state that you are wanting to work in practice as an animal care assistant and that you eventually want to become a VN. You could put that you are willing to do voluntary work in order to get some experience.

As far as i can tell you can so the VCA if you are either working or gaining "real work experience" in a practice which i take to mean voluntary work. The costs include enrolment but if you havent got GCSE English or Maths then you need to do the keyskills as well and these are about £250 each. It comes to about £1500 approx in total. I would contact Lantra or your careers office to see if you can get some funding - i dont know what the policy is if you arent actually working in practice. If you do VCA then i think you need someone to act as mentor in your practice and the CAW give you a distance learning tutor.

You are just a bit too far South for me to help you very much - out of hours would be a problem. If i hear of something with accommodation i will let you know.
