Last week we took bloods and today the lab have said he has borderline hypothyroidism.
For the past 18months he's had, most days, plaque off in his evening feed. As plaque off is contraindicated to use in hyperthyroid

Re: Plaque Off

I do not think the plauqe off would have affected the results - if anything it increases thyroxine not decreases as with this dog. It is not recommended for hypert cats as the ingredients is based on seaweed which naturally contains iodine (which affects thyroid function - normally increasing it).

Again yes it is a "natural" product but that does not mean it is harmless in all cases. But would be good to see what the company have to say.

Re: Plaque Off

[quote user="Phrin Vernon"]

Thanks Steph, it's so sad watching your best friend get old. I had to start him on metacam and synoquin in september for his joints and now this.

Hiya Kerry , how are you? (It's Katherine ex Bay in cyprus) I did ring them first. Their headquarters are in sweden and there was a slight language barrier issue lol so the lady asked me to send an email to their technical support staff. I've also emailed a couple of vet friends and they've agreed that if there is a thyroid problem.... either hyper or hypo..... the extra iodine would further effect the thyroid.

I'll post again IF I get an email back from them.

If you want to write a letter to them in swedish and get it translated let me know I have a very good friend in sweden that speaks perfect english.

Re: Plaque Off

Sent you a PM Katherine........hpe they reply to you real soon

Re: Plaque Off

Thanks Steph, it's so sad watching your best friend get old.
