I will add more in time. I grew a hard shell there and learnt a lot.
In agreement with Carolyn - I did 12 years charity it does harden you off a little but it doesnt mean that you dont care. Also in agreement with wildlife nursing and welfare.

Re: Work Photo Gallery

Hi Carolym

I also know where you're coming from on that one as have seen it first hand in other countries (especially Cyprus) and even at the RSPCA rehoming centre I managed here in the UK and I'm with you on the whole education, neutering etc. If that were the main focus, there wouldn't be the need for so much emergency treatment/PTS'ing as there wouldn't be the same volume of strays/animals turfed out when they're no longer useful etc and we plus many others wouldn't be put in this awful position in the first place! I too have been accused of being a bit harsh on occasion but my view is that it's better to do what you can for severl who realistically have a fighting chance than to go all out spending valuable charity funds on one which is truly suffering.

By the way, our Cyprus fundraiser is now up to about £800!

Re: Work Photo Gallery

I think quite often myself and Carolyn agree on welfare terms..I think its very helpful for VN's to do some chairty and welfare work ..it does teach to look at the bigger picture . You still care but you have to look at the overall welfare picture and try not be sentimental but still be fair. This especially goes for wildlife cases..the way we handle wildlife in practice in 99% of cases is a bit alarming

Re: Work Photo Gallery

I have just bitten the bullet and had a look, it doesnt make for pretty looking at or reading unfortunately but this is the type of cruel world we live in. I am not ignorant when it comes to animal cruelty, I have seen a lot and been around a long time though those photos still brought tears to my eyes. You were a saint Carolyn well done for coping and getting through it

Re: Work Photo Gallery

I think I'm too chicken to look at them just yet Its a greyhound thing I have unfortunately
