He was exactly like this, always looking sad and was very detached, when we walked him with the other dogs he would just stay by our side and not run around and play with the other dogs, it was such a shame, but over the years he came round a bit and was a lot happier, he was always a bit of a loner though, we bred him with our wee bitch and kept one of his pups and then he was truly happy x him and Bandit the pup adored each other and were best pals, someone stole Bandit and he went downhill after that a bit, we put him to sleep when he was 13 but at least he had about 7 years of happiness with us, he was just always so grateful to us for any wee bit of attention we gave him, he was a lovely dog x

Re: sad dog :-(

I assume no nerological issues with him, is it only in the house or out as well? Maybe he might benefit from some Zylkene? Might calm him down a bit.
Is it just his facial expression that changes or are there any other changes in his body language too? ie, does he appear scared of something?

Hope you can get to the bottom of his problem soon, there are quite a few good behaviour-bods on here, hopefully they'll notice your post soon.

I ditto Vicky, so sad someone gave him up because of it!

Re: sad dog :-(

Awww poor little chap. I can't believe someone actually returned him because of it...it would make me want him even more so that i could, over time, make him a happy boy who doesn't think of this past, just enjoys the present. Sorry i don't have anything to suggest...
